For this project Nupump was contracted by PennDOT District 8 for the emergency removal of 1,600 cubic yards of timber debris causing potential hazards to 10 different bridge structures in Lancaster County. The project was to commence within days of the bid opening, and be completed in a very short time frame. The debris to be removed had accumulated at the upstream side of the structures causing the potential for the streams and rivers to flood more readily due to the damming effect caused by the debris. All of the debris was removed from the river and not allowed to flow downstream possibly causing the same issue at other locations. Heavy equipment, including cranes and excavators, was used in conjunction with dive crews to remove the debris. All of the work was completed without placing any equipment in the waterway, and with the least possible impact to the stream environment possible. The project was completed several days early.
